Cool Hand Luke Preface
"Cool Hand Luke" definitely related to life in the 60's. Luke was very rebellious and did not like being told what to do by the bosses. People who lived in the 60's, especially hippies, became very rebellious by experimenting with drugs and protesting against the war and many other social issues of the decade. They didn't like being told what to do, just like Luke. So, they took action and held protests and used drugs, and Luke ran away 3 times. "Cool Hand Luke" is a good metaphor for life in the 60's.

12 Angry Men
I loved Mr. Davis! He was the only one that really wanted to actually think about what could have happened instead of what they believed happened. He uses every detail and testimony to peice together the truth of the case. This movie showed me that some people could have been falsely judged in the past because there were probably people who would just vote to get the case over with and not want to take into consideration what could have actually happened. That's kinda scary. I liked the part where he upset the guy so much and the guy said,"I'm gonna kill you!" and he responded,"Do you really mean that?" I think that made a lot of the jurors see that people say that a lot more often than they realized. I just hope that if I am ever in a situation like that, I would be able to think of all of the options first instead of just agreeing to what everyone else says is true.
Flower Child Preface
I loved seeing several people dressed as flower children on Halloween and getting free icees! :) I liked that the hippies were against war and pushed for peace, but I did not agree with some of their other views of life. I didn't like that they used drugs to escape from their issues; I also didn't like that many thought it was okay to have sex and sleep around. However, this can also be said about today's world. I know several teens that use drugs and think having sex isn't that bad. I don't agree with this because I think that there are other ways to handle problems in your life. It's interesting to see how history repeats itself sometimes...
